Darjeeling tea is unique because it tastes completely different depending on when it is plucked. These harvest periods are called "Flushes".
First Flush (Spring: Feb - April)
This is the very first harvest after the winter dormancy. The leaves are tender and light green.
- Taste: Very light, floral, grassy, and delicate. The liquor is pale yellow.
- Market: Highly prized for exports. Sold as premium "Champagne of Teas" in the Darjeeling orthodox wholesale market.
